Grow Your Own Nurse Practitioner

Grow Your Own Nurse Practitioner is an innovative program designed to help employers recruit nurse practitioners.

How the Program Works

You can use funding available to hire a nurse practitioner (NP) into a long-standing vacant position. Ministry funds allocated to a nurse practitioner position are used to sponsor a local registered nurse to obtain NP education. The program pays the nurse salary while he/she attends school and can also be used to cover tuition and other educational expenses.

Benefits

  • The program helps registered nurses overcome the financial barriers to returning to school.
  • Nurses who participate in the program must agree to provide a return-of-service to the organization once they become nurse practitioners. The local nurse is also more likely to continue to live and work in the community after fulfilling the return-of-service.

Application Guidelines

Read the Guidelines for Application to the Grow Your Own Nurse Practitioner Program.
