How Do I Secure Funding?

Before you can secure funding, you must ensure that you are eligible to participate in the initiative.

Minimum of 3 Months Above Staffing Complement
To be eligible to receive funds, you must keep the new graduate in the above staffing complement for a minimum of 3 months

Could Re-invest the Remaining Funds After 3 Months
After this minimum period, you may bridge the new graduate to a permanent, full-time vacancy (taking into consideration applicable collective agreement requirements). You may then re-invest the remaining funds into other selected front-line nursing priorities.

However, since orientation supports for transition to practice are critical to the retention of new graduates in the workforce, this minimum 3-month period of orientation is a requirement of the funding.

Re-investment Funds Must be Spent by March 31
Any applicable re-investment funds for new graduates who have been hired into permanent full-time positions must be spent by the end of each funding year (March 31) or these funds will be subject to recovery by the Ministry.

Please refer to the Nursing Graduate Guarantee Guidelines for more information.
