Access Centre Client Profiles

Information sessions bring together groups of internationally educated health professions with a common goal. These sessions focus on various aspects of the registration process.

Upcoming Sessions


Orientation to Canadian Health Care Systems, Culture and Context

Orientation to Canadian Health Care Systems, Culture and Context is a course for internationally educated health professionals. Sponsored by the University of Toronto, in co-operation with the Access Centre, this five-week course will provide learners with a better understanding of how the Canadian health care system is organized, what Canadian patients expect from their health care providers and how to communicate with patients and caregivers.

Orientation Session for International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

This session provides an introduction to the licensing process in Ontario for IMGs, and will include information regarding:

  • The CaRMS application process
  • The CEHPEA assessment process
  • Medical Council of Canada examinations
  • Services available at the Access Centre .

CaRMS Application Process Information Session for IMGs

This session will provide information regarding the CaRMS application process for International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

The session is open to IMGs who:

  • Are planning to apply to CaRMS for the 2011 match
  • Are clients of the Access Centre.

Session Date and Time:

  • Morning Session: Tuesday, August 17, 2010, 10:30am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoon Session: Tuesday, August 17, 2010, 1:30pm to 3:00pm

Please note that you may only attend one session. Space is limited. The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 11th.

OSCE Information Sessions

The goal of this session is to help participants become familiar with an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as a type of assessment of clinical skills in medicine.

The session will include:

  • An overview of an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)
  • Review of common questions and problems associated with an OSCE
  • Practice with Stems

The same session will be offered on these different dates:

  • Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 12:00pm to 4:00pm (sign‐up deadline: Friday, July 2nd)
  • Thursday, July 29th, 2010 12:00pm to 4:00pm (sign‐up deadline: Friday, July 23rd)
  • Wednesday, August 4th, 2010 12:00pm to 4:00pm (sign‐up deadline: Friday, July 30th)
