When should I refer clients to the Access Centre?
Once you’ve established that your client is an internationally educated health professional, encourage them to register online here: www.healthforceontario.ca. Start the registration process as soon as possible. We know, the sooner a client gets on the path to practice after immigration, the better their options and chances of registering in their chosen profession.

What about non-health internationally educated professionals?
If your client is in a non-health regulated profession, they can contact Global Experience Ontario or GEO. This centre provides services and information to internationally-trained individuals in the non-health regulated professions.
For more information contact GEO by telephone at 1-866-670-4094 or via email at geo@ontario.ca.

What steps are required to make an appointment with an advisor?
First of all, ensure that your client is an internationally educated health professional. If they are, help them register online

How do I schedule a telephone or in-person appointment?
Once we receive your information, an information officer from our office will contact your client directly to make an appointment. At that point the client can indicate if they would prefer an appointment via telephone or whether they are able to come in and speak to one of our advisors in person. Clients are always welcome to walk into our centre, however since most appointments are scheduled in advance we can’t guarantee that an advisor will be able to meet with them immediately. The advisor will be following up with clients on a fairly regular basis after their initial appointment. Clients are always encouraged to contact their advisor if they have any questions while they’re navigating the regulatory process.

Is there any cost for the services offered by the Access Centre?
All Access Centre services highlighted on this website are free of charge to registered clients.

Should my client send you their resume or CV?
As part of the registration process, we will ask your clients for details about their past education and training. If your client would like to bring a resume or other documents for the appointment with the advisor, they’re welcome to do so but it’s not a requirement.

Will the Access Centre help my clients find employment?
For a variety of reasons, clients may choose not to pursue registration in their chosen profession. If this is the case, our advisors are able to provide them with information, support and advise about alternative career options. The Access Centre is not an employment service, however we are happy to refer clients to employment services if they require assistance with resumes, interview skill development and job searches.

How long will a client have to wait for an appointment?
A client can expect to have an appointment with an advisor within 2 to 3 weeks of registering online. However, most clients are able to obtain an appointment within a week.
