Rural Physician Eligibility Requirements
- Practise family medicine full time as described on Rural Physician Entitlements.
- Practise in a community with:
- Rurality Index of Ontario (RIO) score ≥ 75; or
- RIO ≥ 40 and < 75 and with either 7 or less GP/FPs or
- Rural Northern Physician Group Agreement (RNPGA)
- As of April 1, 2010, RIO 2008_Basic replaced RIO 2004. Minimum RIO score for RFMLP eligibility has been reduced from ≥45 to ≥40.
Check your community’s Rural Index of Ontario (RIO score).
