Interprofessional Care / Education Funding Programs and Projects

The Interprofessional Care / Education Fund and related Interprofessional Care (IPC) funding programs provide support to innovative health education or health care projects that foster and build interprofessional teams in Ontario. IPC projects are jointly funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, and administered by the HealthForceOntario Marketing and Recruitment Agency. Information regarding individual funding programs and projects can be accessed below, or via email ipcproject@healthforceontario.ca for specific inquiries.


Interprofessional Care / Education Fund (ICEF) 2007/08 and 2008/09

The Interprofessional Care/Education Fund (ICEF) is a funding program that supports innovative health education or health care projects that foster and build interprofessional teams. The ICEF is jointly administered by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

The objectives of the Interprofessional Care/Education Fund are to support innovative health education or health care delivery projects that:

  1. Educate, foster and build IPC teams across health care delivery settings; and 
  2. Develop mechanisms in health education and health care delivery settings that help to integrate the practice of IPC in Ontario.

Optimizing Use of Health Providers’ Competencies Fund (OCF) 2008/09

The Optimizing Use of Health Providers' Competencies Fund is a HealthForceOntario initiative designed to explore the opportunities to support current health providers in fully applying their individual knowledge, judgment and acquired skills and experiences in order to meet existing or emerging care provision needs, and to improve patient centred care. Please note that the application period for 2008-09 is now closed.

Interprofessional Mentorship, Preceptorship, Leadership and Coaching Fund (IMPLCF) 2006/07

The Interprofessional Mentorship, Preceptorship, Leadership and Coaching Fund (IMPLCF) was designed to support collaborative team-based health service delivery and to prepare health professionals to work in the health care system, enhance their career satisfaction, increase their leadership capacity, and facilitate career transitions within the health sector. The funded projects were intended to build sustainable collaborative health delivery models that would lead to system change at the micro and macro levels of health care delivery.

Interprofessional Health Education Innovation Fund (IHEIF) 2006/07 & IHEIF Seed Projects

The Interprofessional Health Education Innovation Fund (IHEIF) was an initiative administered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to develop innovative education programs to assist health care providers in interprofessional/interdisciplinary development activities, skill enhancement and retraining throughout all stages in their careers. The IHEIF reflects the value of different health professions working together in an interprofessional care setting to advance quality patient care.

Interprofessional Health Education Innovation Fund (IHEIF) 2006/07 Projects 

Seed Funding was designed to allow institutions without an established interprofessional infrastructure or partnerships necessary to put forward a strong proposal for IHEIF funding to develop a framework and find the partners to allow them to prepare a solid interprofessional project for the future.
