The Interprofessional Care Strategic Implementation Committee (IPCSIC)

In August 2007, the IPC Project delivered its report
Interprofessional Care: A Blueprint for Action in Ontario (the Blueprint). To implement key elements from the report, The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care established the Interprofessional Care Strategic Implementation Committee (IPCSIC), whose mandate ended in December 2009.
Guided by the Blueprint’s recommendations, the IPCSIC oversaw the implementation of interprofessional care in Ontario’s health care and education systems. Committee membership comprised experts in the fields of policy, education, practice, regulation and organizational structure who have demonstrated leadership in interprofessional care.
The IPCSIC established and directed 2 working groups to address technical structures and processes, and 2 key Blueprint recommendations:
- Defining core interprofessional care competencies and
- Developing interprofessional education curricula models.
Their work helped to lay the foundation for a culture of collaborative, patient-focused care in Ontario. The tools and resources developed by the working groups are available in the Resources section.
In May 2010, the IPCSIC presented Implementing Interprofessional Care in Ontario: Final Report of the Interprofessional Care Strategic Implementation Committee to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to further the advancement of interprofessional collaboration.
As part of its mandate, the IPCSIC worked to establish partnerships and dialogue on interprofessional care with a range of stakeholders. The Committee encourages your continued participation and invites you to share your thoughts and experiences at ipcproject@healthforceontario.ca.
