How Do I Participate?

To take part in the Nursing Graduate Guarantee initiative, you must be eligible to participate. Qualified new graduate nurses must use the Nursing Graduate Portal and follow the matching process outlined below:

  1. Register on the Nursing Graduate Portal.
    • Please note that you must begin employment in the Ontario Nursing Graduate Guarantee position within six months of course completion (that is, within six months of receiving your final grades). You will be prompted to confirm acceptance of the terms and conditions of the initiative. You will also be asked for permission to be surveyed so that the government can ensure these funds have successfully supported new graduates in finding full-time employment.
  2. Apply for positions with organizations through the Nursing Graduate Portal.
  3. Interview with potential employers and then confirm your acceptance of the offer on the Nursing Graduate Portal.
  4. Apply for and obtain Temporary Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario once an employment offer is received.
    • Failure of the examination will result in the requirement to withdraw from the Nursing Graduate Guarantee since the new graduate’s temporary registration will be revoked.
  5. Until you have secured a temporary bridging position, you will be required to respond to a monthly email poll to confirm that you wish to remain active in the program. This will keep your name in queue and ensure that you are still eligible to participate.

For more information, please refer to the Nursing Graduate Guarantee Guidelines.
