Dental Technologists

College of Dental Technologists of Ontario (CDTO) is the governing body established by the provincial government to regulate the practice of dental technology in Ontario. Its mission is to protect the public interest by regulating and guiding dental technologists.
Registration Requirements
To practise as a dental technologist in Ontario, internationally educated dental technologists must hold a Certificate of Registration and meet the requirements set out by the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario (CDTO). To become eligible for the Certificate of Registration, internationally educated dental technologists must meet the following registration requirements:
- Submit an academic transcript to a credentialing body approved by the College and have the completed academic credential assessment
- Complete a recognized post-secondary education program in dental technology after Grade 12
- Complete 1,950 hours (about 1 year) of supervised experience in Ontario, performing the full range of activities described in the document "Competency Profile of Canadian Dental Technicians/Technologists"
- Successfully complete the CDTO registration examinations
- Be a Canadian citizen, or legally allowed to work in Canada;
- Professional liability insurance coverage to a minimum of $500,000
