The College of Nurses of Ontario is the governing body for more than 140,000 registered nurses (RNs) and registered practical nurses (RPNs) in Ontario. The Web site provides regulations and registration information, requirements to enter the profession, and practice standards.

The Ontario Nurses' Association is the trade union that represents 52,500 registered nurses and allied health professionals. The Web site provides information to assist members in matters of contract interpretations, contract enforcement, and patient care concerns.

The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario is the professional association representing more than 20,000 registered nurses in Ontario. The Web site provides advocacy information for the profession, education, and links to career information.

The Registered Practical Nurses’ Association of Ontario offers education programs, certifications and publications, and advocates on behalf of the registered practical nurse profession through policy and legislation.

The Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario represents nurse practitioners who work mainly in primary care in Ontario. The organization strives to provide professional support for nurse practitioners and increase public awareness of the profession.

Education (Ontario)

The Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing promotes the advancement of nursing by influencing university nursing education, promoting standards of excellence in university nursing programs, and promoting research and scholarly activity in nursing.

The Nursing Education Initiative provides reimbursement for professional development courses/programs, as part of a government nurse training and education fund for RPNs and RNs. Information is available through RNAO and RPNAO.

The Registered Nurses’ Foundation of Ontario is a charitable foundation that provides financial support for nurses and nursing students to further their education and to engage in research.

Nursing Students of Ontario represents and acts as a resource for Ontario's nursing students.

The Ontario College Application Services Web site provides administrative systems and application processing services for Ontario′s 24 colleges, three regional campuses of the University of Guelph, and the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences.

The Canadian Nurses Association LeaRN CRNE Readiness Test provides assistance in determining readiness to take the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE).

The Canadian Nursing Students' Association is the national voice of Canadian nursing students. Its goal is to increase the legal, ethical, professional, and educational aspects which are an integral part of nursing.

Practical Nurses Canada (PN Canada) is the national association representing provincial/territorial licensed practical nurse organizations and affiliated individuals from across Canada.

The Canadian Nurses Association is a federation of 11 provincial and territorial registered nurses’ associations.

The Canadian Council for Practical Nurse Regulators is a federation of provincial and territorial members identified in legislation responsible for the safety of the public through regulation of licensed/registered practical nurses.

The Canadian Nurses Protective Society is a non-profit society, owned and operated by nurses for nurses, that offers legal liability protection related to nursing practice to eligible Registered Nurses, by providing information, education, and financial and legal assistance.

The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing is the national voice for nursing education and nursing research and represents nursing programs in Canada.

The Canadian Association of Advanced Practice Nurses provides a national voice for issues relating to advanced practice and provides a forum for discussion on advanced practice nursing issues from local, provincial, national and international settings

The Canadian Nurses’ Foundation promotes the health of Canadians through nursing education and research.
