Government Programs

Government-Funded Training and Assessment Positions

International medical graduates (IMGs) are encouraged to apply for any of the 200 training and assessment positions in family medicine and other specialty fields funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Further information is available through the Centre for the Evaluation of Health Professionals Educated Abroad (CEHPEA) and through CaRMS.

The government of Ontario recognizes the valuable contribution that qualified IMGs make to our health care system. Initiatives that enable more IMGs to practise in Ontario benefit all of us.

Ontario leads the country in number of positions available and support for IMGs. Depending on the level of position IMGs wish to apply for, they have two options: entry-level training positions and advanced-level specialty training and practice-ready assessment positions.
