OSCE Preparation for International Medical Graduates
The goal of this 3-hour session is to help participants become familiar with an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as a type of assessment of clinical skills in medicine.
The first half of the session is an interactive discussion guided by participants’ questions related to OSCEs with a focus on the process rather than on medical content.
The second half of the session includes two OSCE sample station demonstrations with a Standardized Patient (SP). Volunteers from the audience are asked to interview the patient. Scoring considerations are discussed and participants are referred to the Medical Council of Canada’s website for further information, including demonstration station videos and scoring tools.
Preference for these session dates will be given to clients who are registered for upcoming OSCE examination dates.
