- The Physician Recruitment & Retention Committee in Alliston held its annual Physician Appreciation evening at the town’s beautiful Gibson Centre. Dr. Safar and Dr. Khalil were welcomed to the community.
- Met with the East Gwillimbury Recruitment Advisory Committee in October to discuss expected community growth and need for more family physicians in the area.
- Many new specialists and family physicians have made York Region and South Simcoe County their home recently – a big welcome to them all!
- Humber River Regional Hospital unveiled the design of its new facility at Keele and 401. The completion date for the new facility is 2015. And speaking of new, have you seen how quickly the new expansion of Markham Stouffville is going?
- Together with U of T’s Faculty of Medicine, Postgraduate Department, HFO MRA developed an abstract for a poster presentation at the upcoming Canadian Conference in Medicine Education (CCME)in Banff, AB. We are thrilled to announce the abstract was accepted and will be presented under the education innovation category entitled “Practice Ontario -- Collaboration between the University of Toronto and HealthForceOntario Marketing and Recruitment Agency (HFO MRA) to develop a Customized Career Service for U of T Residents”.
- Practice Ontario is going strong at University of Toronto with over 15 presentations scheduled in 2012 for different residency programs. Our presentations promote Ontario practice opportunities!
- The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recently announced funding to support the provincial Primary Care Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Lead Pilot Program. The creation of the Primary Care LHIN Lead role is intended to strengthen and focus the efforts that local primary care providers and LHINs have made to date to address local challenges. The new Primary Care LHIN lead for Central LHIN will be announced soon.
