Regional Updates
- Leaders from The Credit Valley Hospital, Trillium Health Centre and William Osler Health System came together to raise $77,015 for the United Way.
- Congratulations to Jagoda Pike on her role as Board Chair of the newly merged Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre. Alan Torrie, Vice-Chair; Nicholas Zelenczuk, Treasurer; Sacha Ghai; Joanne Rogers; William Rogers; Neil Skelding; Pam Turner; Karen Wensley; Tim McGuire; Edward Sellers; Wayne Bossert; Lee Stem; and Fred Kuntz have also signed on to the new Board. The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre hospital merger was finalized on December 1, 2011. The new organization will be the largest community-based academic health network in Ontario.
- Congratulations to the Trillium Health Centre on receiving two Ontario Health Association Awards. The hospital is the proud recipient of the Leading Practices Electronic Display Award in the Patient Safety and Quality category as well as Overall Winner of the Leading Practices.
- Congratulations to Janet Davidson, President and CEO of the Trillium Health Centre, recently named Chair of the Ontario Hospital Association’s Board of Directors.
- On Nov. 1, 2011 Trillium Health Centre received the Canada Order of Excellence Award from Excellence Canada for its Excellence, Innovation and Wellness programs. Trillium is the first health-care organization to receive this prestigious national award, which recognizes organizations that have successfully maintained a focus on excellence over the long term.
- The Mississauga community showed its support to health care by raising over $1 million for the Credit Valley Hospital Foundation.
- West Oak Medical and Walk-in Clinic opened its doors in August 2011 offering additional access to primary care services for residents in north Oakville.
- Halton Healthcare Services (HHS) offers Living Healthy seminars to members of the Oakville, Milton and Halton communities. Seminars are presented in two biannual sessions and are free to the public.
- Welcome to Dr. Rukhsana Abdullah, Dr. Laurence Biro, Dr. Casey Corkum, Dr. Gagandeep Dhillon, Dr. Brandusa Florica, Dr. Sarah Louise Nelson, Dr Yael Perez, Dr. Nirvashni Rughubir, Dr. Kerry Thompson, Dr. Stephanie Finn and Dr. Zia Sial who recently joined Trillium Health Centre over the past few months.
- The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recently announced funding to support the provincial Primary Care Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Lead Pilot Program. The creation of the Primary Care LHIN Lead role is intended to strengthen and focus the efforts that local primary care providers and LHINs have made to date to address local challenges. The new Primary Care LHIN lead for Mississauga Halton LHIN will be announced soon.
