Hospital Eligibility

Hospitals are assessed based on relative highest needs for ED coverage assistance. Considerations include:

• the percentage of the ED physician complement being recruited
• availability and use of staffing alternatives
• hospital size
• degree of isolation
• other factors

Before a hospital can be assessed for last resort assistance, it must demonstrate that it has pursued all other avenues to overcome immediate challenges with physician coverage.
