Emergency Department Locum Program (EDLP)
The Emergency Department Locum Program (EDLP) is a provincial program designed to provide urgent ED locum coverage as an interim measure of last resort to designated hospitals that are facing significant challenges covering ED physician shifts. Participating hospitals receive EDLP assistance on an interim basis while they continue to pursue all options for ED coverage, including physician recruitment efforts for their ED.
Under the EDLP, physicians from EDs in Ontario who are able to maintain their full-time home hospital commitments, assist other designated hospitals in the province with coverage for their ED shifts.
