Emergency Department Locum Program (EDLP)

The Emergency Department Locum Program (EDLP) provides urgent Emergency Department (ED) locum coverage as an interim measure of last resort to designated hospitals that are facing significant challenges covering ED shifts. At any given time, approximately 20 hospitals receive EDLP assistance on an interim basis while they continue to pursue all options for ED coverage, including physician recruitment efforts for their ED.
Under the EDLP, physicians from EDs in Ontario who are able to maintain their home hospital commitments, assist other designated hospitals in the province with coverage for their ED shifts.
